As lockdown is easing off, we have been keeping busy here at French Cabaret by introducing a new character to our incredibly popular show ‘Ça C’est Paris’.

The show due to premiere in the UK in March 2021 is being adapted to engage the British public into our French culture. The musical comedy takes its audience through the sights and sounds of post-war Paris on a most unusual love story. Our new adaptation will be in English with traditional French songs along with our new burlesque character Alain, a somewhat camp ex-club owner from England and in the style of a drag King. Alain as a very elegant and sophisticated character, with a brilliant and sparkling sense of humour, and a touch of sweetness.

The new flamboyant character will also be acting and dancing as the host engaging with the audience from start to finish bringing everyone together as if they were part of the show. Over the years Alain has seen every love story imaginable because Paris is where people come to fall in love. And sometimes, to fall out of it. This hilariously fun character will make everyone feel a part of the story by participating as tourists within the Café de Paris, passers-by on the streets of Paris and of course the witnessing of the unusual love romance between ‘Gaston & Blanche’.

The recruitment process for the new star of the show began back in March and we have received over 530 applications! The first set of twenty-seven self-tape auditions have taken place and we have now selected 6 presenter/actors for the final 1 to 1 audition in July.

With such a large number of British professionals auditioning, the casting process was difficult but incredibly enjoyable. A big thank you to all the fabulous artists for taking the time to share your time, thoughts and your self-video recording, allowing us to gain more insight into the presenter role. Thank you for auditioning for Alain, “Ça C’est Paris” host character. Your talent, courage, and enthusiasm were nothing short of incredible!
